Week 5 Blowout!!

There is no more tie. The ladies are now up by 8 (199-191). Every "man" was edged by his wife this week (just the opposite of last week) so the women ended the week up by 8 points.
SM was our new overall leader, racking up an impressive 399 minutes in a week where everyone backed off (mostly due to the two out-of-the-area trips by the T's and L's). The travel made for some interesting workouts. DL was seen jumping around a hotel fitness center using her Nike fitness app (the treadmill and stairclimber were broken), CT and AT took a run in a virtual wind-tunnel in Sacramento, and I conducted two of the preppiest workout sessions ever in my Sperry Topsiders.
SM's lead came at the expense of our usual Grudge Match leader JM who took an almost unprecedented two days off this week. But beware ladies... the only other time JM took two days off in a week, he set a Grudge Match record of 519 minutes in the following week. I'm expecting a big scoring rebound by the men this week, as the women really pushed it last week... they've gotta be ready to dial it back this week... right?

Exciting Week 4 Complete!!

Congratulations competitors!! You've completed your 4th week of competition and it was full of twists and turns. Competitors went back to work, fell ill to the flu, and dealt with the fatigue of being 4 weeks into a competition that has become a brutal blow fest!!! Just kidding, it's all in good fun.....right guys?

On a more serious note, the weather continues to be amazing so outdoor cycling and running have been common place, which is awesome!! Competitors are still padding their mileage and minutes by utilizing treadmills, trainers, and workout videos.

Great job everyone and let's all be thankful that no one has been sidelined with a chronic injury(knock on wood) and we've all been given the chance to compete in an unbelievable once in a lifetime competition that we like to call The Grudge Match!!! Cheers to making it to the halfway point!!!

I almost forgot to mention that the overall standings are a tie!!!

Happy New Year- Week 3 Complete

Happy New Year everyone!! Competitors in The Grudge Match brought in the new year with mass quantities of fitness, not alcohol!!! Sure we had fun on New Years eve tipping back champagne and setting off a few choice fireworks(not at the same time)!! I think we can all agree that the real fun was had logging miles, sweating to a variety of fitness workouts, and riding bikes.

The girls team flexed their muscles and extended their lead. There were a record amount of hours logged during the week as the average per competitor went up again. The first week of January is going to be busy, but I'm sure the competition will be busy too!! Cheers to many more calories burned in 2012.

Week 2 Down!!!

The bar has been raised again. Every competitor this week managed to workout more minutes than last week. The guy team won the week in points, but not enough to catch the girls in the overall totals. Great job everyone and keep up the calorie burning!!!

Girls Win a Close First Week

WOW! What an exciting first week it was out there. Congratulations to all the competitors. We are all winners, in a way, but truly there can only be one real winner. Hats off to the girl team for their very impressive win. Nice job!!! You really rocked it and burned a lot of calories doing it. Cheers to an amazing 2nd week. We can only hope we all work out as much as we did last week. Let's continue to stay healthy and uninjured. Cheers!

The Grudge Match 2011

What started as a friendly bet a couple of days ago between 3 married couples (3 husbands vs. 3 wives) has already turned into an all out war. This competition has already proven to be tough. Here are the rules for The Grudge Match 2011:

1) Two Teams: Guys vs. Girls
2) A "daily workout" is 30 minutes working out or 3 miles run.
3) Maximum of one "daily workout" per day.
4) The team with the most "daily workouts" at the end of the week wins.
5) The losing team pays $20 per team member into the pot.
6) The winning team gets to choose where to spend the weekend using the money in the pot for lodging.
7) If team "daily workouts" totals are equal, the team with the most minutes worked out that week wins.
8) The Grudge Match starts December 11, 2011.
9) The Grudge Match ends February 4th, 2011.
10) 5 "daily workouts" is the maximum per person per week. Minutes from any "daily workouts" over 5 per week still count toward the weekly total for tiebreaker purposes

That being said, the first couple days have already seen competitors pulling double days. People are running outside/inside, biking on roads and trainers, working out to DVD's, doing free weights, track workouts, ab work, and being ultra concerned about their health and fitness.

This "friendly" competition will definitely lead to a lot of calories burned in the coming weeks.

Good luck everyone and happy calorie burning!!!
